Today's Focus: Sustainability and Environmental Impacts
With increasing environmental awareness, innovators are currently developing several new technologies for fibre production, some of which are already in the commercialisation phase. One clear trend is textile recycling and the separation of cellulose fibres from textiles to be used as a resource for new fibres. Other trends focus on the development of new production technologies and chemicals for the production of cellulose fibres from wood.
Ideally, sustainability benefits also result in economic benefits, so you need to communicate about your sustainability efforts. In recent months, the EU has sought to create a new framework for the marketing of environmental claims on products and services. This is particularly evident with the recently published Proposal for a Green Claims Directive. This session will discuss what is to be expected from the forthcoming legislation.
These and other pressing questions represent the guiding topics of the session “Sustainability and Environmental Impacts”. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the range of sustainability and environmental impact assessments for cellulose fibres.
Sustainability and other topics such as fibre-to-fibre recycling represent the guiding themes of the next Cellulose Fibres Conference, to be held in 13-14 March 2023, in Cologne, Germany, and online.
