Session on Sustainability and Environmental Impacts - Cellulose Fibres Conference 2023
The analysis and calculation of sustainability raises many questions in the industry: How can we gather enough data to measure environmental impacts? How can sustainability assessments be carried out in specific cases? What about the environmental, economic and social sustainability of new technologies and process chemicals? Are new sustainability regulations for chemicals to be taken into consideration? Which processes are the most environmentally friendly? Is generalisation even possible or do assessments require site-specific approaches? How do we assess biodegradable products? Can they support the transition to a more sustainable fibre industry?
These and other urgent questions represent the guiding topics of the session “Sustainability and Environmental Impacts”. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the spectrum of sustainability and environmental impact assessments for cellulose fibres and introduces bio-degradable concepts for substituting plastics.
For the session “Sustainability and Environmental Impacts” the conference organiser nova-Institute is pleased to present the following speakers:

About the Conference
With a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 5 and 10 %, cellulose fibres have been a success story within the textile market over the past decade. Similar growth rates are expected in the following years. This makes cellulosic fibres the fastest growing fibre group in the textile industry and therefore the largest investment sector in the global circular bio-economy.
However, the recycling of the cellulose has some hurdles. How can technology overcome these obstacles? How can markets achieve a circularity of the material? How can the cellulose fibres industry contribute to the sustainability and circularity of the textile sector? These and other questions represent the lead topics of the upcoming Cellulose Fibres Conference 2023 taking place on 8-9 March 2023 in Cologne, Germany and online.
